KFOR’s Ali Meyer and team finalist for prestigious Peabody Award
OKLAHOMA CITY (KFOR) — This week, the highest honor in broadcast journalism, The Peabody Awards, released its list of finalists.
KFOR is among 68 nominees for this distinguished award.
KFOR entered Ali Meyer’s two decades of reporting on the wrongful conviction of Glynn Simmons.
Meyer has been highlighting Simmons’ case in a series of reports titled The Wrong Man since 2003.
Simmons was freed from prison in 2023 and became the longest-serving wrongfully convicted person in U.S. history. He served 48 years, 5 months, 18 days behind bars, after his arrested and wrongful conviction in 1975.

In December, Simmons was declared actually innocent of the Edmond Liquor Store Murder of 1974.
The Peabody Award Board of Jurors selected KFOR’s The Wrong Man as a finalist in the News category from a pool of more than 1,100 entries.
News 4 is honored to be listed as a finalist for The Peabody Award.
Meyer will be notified if her work is selected as a Peabody Award Winner on May 9th.
