Kevin Love, Isaiah Thomas appear to make up on Twitter after report Thomas led Love witch hunt

The Cleveland Cavaliers are a mess. This is not news.

Their recent 4-11 stretch ripe with trade rumors, team meetings and LeBron James discontent is well-documented. But juicy details of the drama keep trickling in, as the NBA tabloid scene is wont to do in 2018.

The latest news centers around an ESPN report that players were not happy with Kevin Love leaving the arena during Saturday’s disaster against the Oklahoma City Thunder and missing practice the next day with an illness.

That news was followed up with a New York Daily News report that relative newcomer and defensive sieve Isaiah Thomas spearheaded the attack on Love.

With the Feb. 8 trading deadline looming the next three weeks will be fascinating, starting with the dead-man-walking Cavs, who were described by one person close to the team as being in “utter chaos.” ESPN reported that during a team meeting Kevin Love became yet again the convenient scapegoat. A source told The News that Isaiah Thomas led the charge against Love, who turned up ill for Saturday’s embarrassing loss to Oklahoma City and went home after playing just three minutes.

This report was made even more surprising by the apparent fact that Love and Thomas go way back to their days on the AAU circuit. Love has been a popular punching bag in Cleveland when things go wrong, and now the new guy, an old friend of his, is piling on.

Well, it appears that Thomas may have been feeling some remorse over the news from the NYDN report and decided to give Love a shout-out on Twitter on Wednesday. Love earned his fifth All-Star bid, prompting Thomas to share some kind words.

Love, just seven minutes later, was quick to respond.

All relationships have conflict at some point, especially after several years. Whether the Cavs recover or not from their current swoon, it looks like Love and Thomas are working to keep things cool between themselves. At least in public.
