Kevin Bacon set to return to ‘Footloose’ high school

Kevin Bacon is ready to cut loose and return to the Utah high school that made him famous.

To celebrate the 40th anniversary of the movie “Footloose,” the actor is set to head to Payson High School in Payson, Utah. The school was featured in the ’80s classic.

It’s been a long time coming for the students at the school.

For a couple of years students have been urging Bacon to return. They even created a social media campaign called #BacontoPayson where they recreated scenes from the film with hopes of going viral and getting his attention.

As it turns out, “The Following” actor saw the videos and decided it was time to pay Payson a visit.

He’s set to return to the high school on the day of their prom. He made the special announcement on “Today” on March 22.

“I have been so impressed with everything that’s been going on there with this crazy idea to get me to come back,” Bacon said in a video message. “I’ve been amazed at the work that all of you have been putting into this, with the musical and the flash mobs and the re-creations.”

Bacon also noted that the students also tied in the actor and singer’s charity initiative.

“It hasn’t gone unnoticed by me, not to mention the fact that you tied in SixDegrees.org, our foundation, and are trying to figure out ways to give back to your community,” he explained. “It’s really inspirational, so thank you. Thank you. And I’m gonna come. I gotta come!”

“Thank you guys. Let’s dance,” Bacon added.

The actor is set to visit the school on April 20.

Bacon’s announcement came in the nick of time as the high school is set to be demolished at the end of the school year.
