Keshi: Nigeria are still gelling

Keshi cuts down CHAN squad

Nigeria coach Stephen Keshi believes his side are still trying to find the balance between youth and experience after Wednesday's win over South Africa. Bafana Bafana were unable to make their home advantage count as they suffered a 2-0 defeat at the hands of the Nigerians in the Nelson Mandela Challenge at the Moses Mabida Stadium. Keshi's men made their intentions clear early on, but were only rewarded in the 49th minute after substitute Uche Nwofor found the back of the net. Nwofor then completed his brace on the 68-minute mark to nicely set up the Super Eagles for their upcoming World Cup qualifier with Malawi. "We had some new players in the team who didn't really understand our movement with and without the ball and the way we want to play," 'The Boss' said after the Durban encounter. "We didn't keep the shape of the team well in the last 15 minutes of the first half. "But in the second half we came back and tried to use the older players in the team who understand how we play and it paid off. I think it was a good game; we saw some entertaining attacking movements. "With a lot of respect for Bafana Bafana, I think there's a lot of potential in their team that they can build on and get the best out of the players." He added: "The scoreline is not what is important for me; it's about the unity, how we played and the attitude of the players because the most important game for us is on the 7th of September against Malawi. "This is a great reunion factor for us, just to build our confidence to go on and get ready for that game."
