Kentucky police seek missing 4-year-old Serenity McKinney, last seen by family a year ago
Kentucky police are searching for 4-year-old Serenity McKinney, a Shelby County toddler who hasn't been seen for more than a year by family members.
The girl's mother, Catherine McKinney, was arrested in Kansas earlier this month.
The Shelby County Sheriff's Office and Attorney General Daniel Cameron have been asking for the public's help in finding the toddler, who was reported missing Jan. 31, 2022, by concerned family members who said they have not seen Serenity since Christmas 2020.

Less than a week later, Catherine McKinney was arrested in Kansas along with boyfriend Dakota Hill.

The couple was charged with custodial interference after failing to produce Serenity after being ordered by a court to do so. The pair are in the process of being extradited to Shelby County, Sheriff Mark Moore said.
Serenity's last location is unknown but could be the Shelby, Jefferson or Bullitt County areas. She has blond hair and blue eyes and possibly a birth mark on her belly.

"We’re getting inundated with tips and we are following up on all of those leads to see where they take us," Shelby County Capt. Blake Lisby said. "We are just asking the public, if anyone knows anything about the whereabouts of Serenity, just contact us and let us know."

Multiple agencies are working the case, including the Attorney General’s Special Victims Unit, Bullitt County Sheriff’s Office, Kentucky State Police and the U.S. Secret Service, according to a release from Cameron's office.
