Kent County Animal Shelter at ‘critical capacity’

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — The Kent County Animal Shelter says Saturday is the last day of its adoption special in honor of National Pet Day as it reaches “critical capacity.”

In a post on Facebook, the shelter said during the adoption special all dogs and puppies are $50, which includes a dog license.

Emergency ‘Empty The Shelters’ event after Harbor Humane hits capacity for adult dogs

KCAS isn’t the only shelter experiencing a high capacity. The Harbor Humane Society in Olive Township is holding an emergency “Empty The Shelters” event after it reached maximum capacity.

Through Saturday, adoption fees for adult dogs are $25, down from $175. Every animal is spayed or neutered, up-to-date on vaccines and microchipped.

All of the animals that are up for adoption are currently listed on the Harbor Humane Society’s website. Applications can be filled out online.

The Harbor Humane Society is open from noon to 5 p.m. on Saturdays.
