Kellyanne Conway rips ‘Morning Joe’ hosts for saying she secretly hates Trump
Kellyanne Conway has responded to claims made by MSNBC “Morning Joe” co-hosts Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski that during the 2016 campaign she would privately complain about having to defend Donald Trump.
In a lengthy statement posted to Twitter on Tuesday afternoon, Conway, Trump’s campaign manager turned counselor to the president, said her “beliefs, commitments and loyalties are plain to see.”
“The notion that I am serving for ‘the money’ or a ‘paycheck’ is absurd,” Conway’s statement read. As campaign manager, I made a fraction of what other consultants have made on unsuccessful presidential campaigns. Then I walked away from dozens of opportunities for millions of dollars, and instead walked into the White House. I would do it again.”

On Monday, Scarborough and Brzezinski painted a very different picture about Conway’s loyalties.
“This is a woman, by the way, who came on our show during the campaign and would shill for Trump in extensive fashion, and then she would get off the air, the camera would be turned off, the microphone would be taken off, and she would say, ‘Blech. I need to take a shower,’ ” Brzezinski said. “Because she disliked her candidate so much.”
“She also said that this is just, like, my summer in Europe. This is like my vacay — I’m just doing it for the money,” Scarborough said. “I’ll be off this soon. I don’t know that she ever said, ‘I’m doing this for the money,’ but she said, ‘This is just my summer vacation, my summer in Europe.’ And, basically, ‘I’m just gonna get through this.’”
Conway, a longtime Republican Party strategist and pollster, had endorsed Texas Sen. Ted Cruz before joining the Trump campaign.
In her statement, she said it has been “a privilege to assist” Trump in the White House, “just as it was during the campaign.”
“I know him, I respect him, I believe in him,” Conway added. “And I am confident in his capacity to be a transformative and successful president.”
In February, the “Morning Joe” hosts said they had banned Conway from appearing on the show following her widely mocked description of false White House statements as “alternative facts.”
“The hosts of MSNBC’s Morning Joe have become virulent critics of the president and those close to him,” Conway said. “Ignoring insults and insinuations is a valuable skill. But when sentiments are attributed to me that are not true, it is necessary to respond.”
