Kelly Ripa Brought Up Her Contract Negotiations On Air, Things Quickly Got Awkward
Since Kelly Ripa made her emotional return to Live with Kelly and Michael Tuesday after nearly a week of being MIA, things have gone smoothly-at least that's how it's appeared on-air.
Ripa was reportedly kept out of the loop about her co-host Michael Strahan moving over to ABC's Good Morning America, not finding out about it until minutes before the news broke in the media. She took a few days off work and when she returned Tuesday she said, "What transpired over the course of a few days has been extraordinary, in the sense that it started a much greater conversation about communication and consideration and, most importantly, respect in the workplace."
It's been reported that the execs behind the botched transition have apologized to both Ripa and Strahan. But apparently things are still tense behind-the-scenes. Today, Wild Kingdom host Peter Gros came on the show with a screaming guest armadillo.
"The reason he's screaming is he is small. He has no defense, no teeth. When a predator comes along he squares it away with his scream," Gros explained. Ripa responded: "I just want to take him into contract negotiations with me!"
Strahan didn't crack a smile at her joke, responding with "Okay, wow," before they changed the subject to the armadillo's pungent smell.
Sometimes when something stinks, you just have to call it out.
