KDHE, ECHD investigating reports of health problems in FHSU’s Victor E. Village and McMindes Hall residents

HAYS, Kan. (KSNW) — The Kansas Department of Health and Environment and the Ellis County Health Department are investigating reports of health problems in residents of Victor E. Village and McMindes Hall at Fort Hays State Univeristy.

To help with their investigation, the KDHE sent out a 5-10 minute survey to “get a count of the number of students living in Victor E. Village and McMindes Hall from August 15, 2023 to present who report illness.”

The survey is safe, secure and confidential for students. The responses will only be viewed by public health staff working on the investigation.

The survey comes after students said mold in their dorm rooms made them sick. It went live on Monday. FHSU has began to cleanup the mold.
