KCSO hosts free catalytic converter etching event in Ridgecrest Saturday

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — Catalytic converter thefts remain rampant around Kern County. The trend has prompted the Kern County Sheriff’s Office to host a free etching event in Ridgecrest Saturday to combat the issue.

Lori Meza with the Sheriff’s Office joined 17 News at Noon to speak about how deputies are helping protect your vehicles in Kern.

According to Meza, KCSO partnered up with Dennis George Automotive located at 831 E. Ridgecrest Blvd., to give the community a chance to get their vehicle’s catalytic converters painted and etched for free. The painting will match your license plate umber, which creates a way for officials to find your stolen catalytic converter.

Registration is required for the free service. As of Friday, only 12 positions have been filled, out of 45 slots. To register follow this link.
