KCSO arrests man in Taft for suspected copper, car theft

Kern County Sheriff's Office deputies arrested a man in the ​​300 block of Pierce Street in Taft on Monday on suspicion of copper theft and possessing a stolen car.

Eriq Cash, 34, was arrested on suspicion of grand theft of an automobile, possession of a stolen car, copper wire theft, possession of burglary tools and possession of stolen property, according to KCSO. While investigating a stolen car, deputies found several strands of large gauge copper wire, according to KCSO.

As of Tuesday afternoon, Cash was in KCSO custody and was scheduled to appear in court Wednesday for an arraignment.

Cash also has another Lamont case for suspected possession of metal knuckles, possession of a controlled substance, possession of a narcotic controlled substance, driving with a revoked or suspended license for a DUI and failing to register a vehicle.
