KCPD asking for help finding truck after deadly crash on 40 Highway

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — KCPD is asking for help in finding a truck that was involved in a deadly motorcycle crash on 40 Highway near Phelps Road.

Police are looking for an “older model white Ford F150.” Police said the Ford should have damage on the right rear passenger side bed of the truck. It was last seen traveling southbound on Phelps.

Police said the crash happened Tuesday around 6:45 p.m. when a motorcyclist was speeding east on 40 Highway while racing an SUV. On 40 Highway and Phelps, a white Ford F150 turned left from westbound 40 Highway onto southbound Phelps. Police said as the Ford was making the turn, it was hit by the motorcyclist.

The person driving the motorcycle, who was wearing a helmet, was ejected off the motorcycle and pronounced dead at the scene.

The SUV and the Ford left the scene of the crash. 40 Highway was completely closed to all traffic at Phelps for approximately two and a half hours on Tuesday.
