KC Big Slick tickets about to go on sale. Can last year’s record $3.5 million be beat?

The first round of tickets go on sale Tuesday for the 15th annual Big Slick Celebrity Weekend, the popular star-studded fundraiser for pediatric cancer research at Children’s Mercy Kansas City.

Kansas City’s own Rob Riggle, Paul Rudd, Jason Sudeikis, David Koechner, Eric Stonestreet and Heidi Gardner and their celebrity friends return May 31 and June 1.

“We’ve got some new and exciting guests and we’re going to release that information coming up,” Rudd told The Star on Friday.

The biggest slate of celebrity guests last year helped Big Slick raise more than $3.5 million, a record. Kansas City Chiefs stars Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce appeared at the party and main event at the T-Mobile Center.

To date, Big Slick has raised more than $20 million, helping to attract top medical and research talent by exposing a national audience to the work of the Children’s Mercy Research Institute.

Big Slick began in 2010 as a celebrity poker tournament and party hosted by Riggle, Rudd and Sudeikis. Stonestreet and Koechner became co-hosts in 2014; Gardner last year.

Now the weekend involves two core events:

The Big Slick Celebrity Softball Game will be played on the main field at Kauffman Stadium on Friday, May 31, before the Royals play the San Diego Padres. Everyone with a Royals ticket can watch the softball game.

The Big Slick Party & Show is Saturday, June 1, at the T-Mobile Center. That includes comedians, musical performances and an auction for big-ticket prizes, which in past years have included red carpet movie premieres and an evening with Bill Self and Kansas basketball.

Beginning at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Big Slick insiders/email subscribers can buy presale tickets for the June 1 show and shop a limited number of VIP, meet-and-greet tickets. (Sign up at bigslickkc.org.)

Tickets are $75-$125 for standard lower level and $375 for upgraded seats and an open bar.

Tickets go on sale to the general public Friday at bigslickkc.org or T-MobileCenter.com.

Starting Tuesday, VIP tickets will be available for the softball game: $1,000 Hall of Fame Suite tickets and $1,500 for Dugout Suite tickets. For the T-Mobile Center show: $2,000 VIP Pre-Party access plus upgraded seating.

$5,000 will get you a cocktail party with the Big Slick celebrities at a private residence on Thursday, May 30.

If you buy tickets to the softball and Royals games through the Big Slick website — or with this link, mlb.com/royals/tickets/specials/big-slick — Big Slick gets a portion of the proceeds.
