Katy Perry breaks down as she reveals heartbreaking reason why she cut her hair
In case you didn’t know, Katy Perry has been promoting her new album, ‘Witness’, in a Big Brother style livestream on YouTube over the past few days, broadcasting everything from her meetings to her yoga classes to her sleeping to millions of fans across the globe.
However, viewers were left concerned on Friday when the popstar broke down during a meeting with Siri Sat Nam Singh, a licensed therapist.
In the stream, Katy sobbed as she admitted that she used to have suicidal thoughts before revealing the heartbreaking reason why she cut her hair short earlier this year.
Speaking live, Katy told the therapist: “I feel ashamed that I would have those thoughts, feel that low and that depressed.
“You can be right or you can be loved, I just want to be loved.”
Katy, who was born Katheryn Hudson, went on to talk about the difference in her private and public image.
She explained: “I’m really strong as Katy Perry, sometimes I’m not as strong as Katheryn Hudson.

“People talk about my hair, right? And they don’t like it, or they wish that it was longer.
“I so badly want to be Katheryn Hudson that I don’t even want to look like Katy Perry anymore sometimes, and that is a little bit of why I cut my hair.
“I’m a bit more nerdy than everybody thinks I am. I’m a big goofball. The fantasy of Katheryn went into Katy and made this bigger than life personality.”
Katy’s fans took to social media to praise the star for bravely baring her soul in this way, writing:
Crying doesn't equal weakness. It takes a lot of strength to show your true emotions and be vulnerable without hesitation. @katyperry ????

Thankfully, Katy seemed much happier later on in the livestream, which is still airing now.
