Katie Valenzuela concedes Sacramento City Council race to Phil Pluckebaum

(FOX40.COM) — Sacramento City Councilmember Katie Valenzuela has conceded her race for reelection.
“After a week of contacting voters to cure ballots, today’s update from the county shows there are simply not enough votes left to push this election to November,” Valenzuela said on Tuesday. “I have called Phil Pluckebaum to congratulate him and I commit to working with him to ensure a smooth transition as he takes office this December.”

Pluckebaum leads early over incumbent Valenzuela in Sacramento City Council District 4 race

A new count released by Sacramento County on Tuesday showed that her opponent, Phil Pluckebaum, maintained his lead in the District 4 race with 50.63% of the votes.

Valenzuela assumed office in District 4, which covers East Sacramento, midtown and downtown, on Dec. 15, 2020. Her four-year term will end on Dec. 9 and Pluckebaum’s new term will begin on Dec. 10.
