Katie Hopkins has sparked another furious row on social media. This time, the broadcaster has supposedly tweeted about Netflix show Dear White People and lambasted the Black Lives Matter movement at the same time.

The 42-year-old is thought to have tweeted the following and deleted it shortly afterwards:

"Dear Black People. If your lives matter why do you stab and shoot each other so much."

However, despite being spotted by a couple of accounts on Twitter, is has yet to be confirmed whether the post was actually sent by the divisive columnist.

Digital Spy has contacted Katie Hopkins' representatives for comment and clarification.

The post also included an image of the Netflix show Dear White People, which has just received a 100% Fresh score on Rotten Tomatoes.

The show concerns American students at an Ivy League college that's predominantly white, and charts the racism and discrimination that the small number of black students face.

Following the backlash, a petition has emerged to have Katie removed from LBC, the chat radio station where she has a weekly show on Sunday. The petition has pulled in over 5,500 signatures at the time of writing.

Her show was invaded by her new colleague Russell Brand during his first week on fellow station Radio X.

This isn't the first time Katie Hopkins has become embroiled in controversy.

She received heavy criticism after she dubbed the UK 'afraid' following the Westminster terror attack, and also came to blows with Katie Price after accusing one of her images of being Photoshopped earlier this year.
