While the Dawson's Creek star keeps mum about her love life, she's open to chatting about her and ex-husband Tom Cruise's 10-year-old daughter, Suri.

Holmes recently made her directorial debut in All We Had, and dedicated the film to "my daughter, Suri. Dreams come true."

"It was my first film, and I want her to always know that she's the inspiration behind everything," she says of the dedication. "And so hopefully it means something as she gets older. Just to let her know how important she is."

Holmes also shares how she goes about parenting Suri and protecting her from the celebrity world.

"I try to make our world very much an environment that's just all about being a kid without too much of Hollywood coming into that," she explains. "And I just enjoy it. Honestly I think that there are so many books and opinions about how to be a great mom, and you have good days and bad days, and sometimes you do great and sometimes you could have done better. But I have to say I'm really enjoying having a 10-year-old. She's a remarkable person."

In a recent exclusive interview with ET, Holmes said that she has a better understanding of herself due to her close relationship with her daughter. "She gets a special thanks for everything, [for] every job I do, because she makes every day great and awesome and better," the proud mother gushed. "I know myself better because of her, so she'll always get a special thanks."
