The weekend will be a mix of rain, clouds and sunshine, but also lots of events happening throughout the community.

There's a forest bathing walk at the Huron Natural Area in Kitchener on Saturday morning. This is a free, drop-in program. Be sure to dress for the weather and wear comfortable footwear.

An exhibit called Un-Muted: The Silent Voices of Social Genocide will be at Kitchener's city hall Saturday afternoon, which tells the stories of marginalized and persecuted individuals in Turkey. The event will include guided tours.

The CFUW K-W Used Book Sale will take place Friday and Saturday at First United Church in Waterloo.

If you want to check out some music, River Glen, Abbie Sawyer, and Marnie McCourty will be performing at Revel Cider in Guelph Saturday afternoon.

A concert called Gathering Sparks will see friends and musicians Eve Goldberg and Jane Lewis join together for an evening of music with folk, pop, blues and gospel influences Sunday evening at Emmanuel United Church in Waterloo.

Also, it's Record Store Day on Saturday.

The K-W Titans basketball team is also on home court on Saturday, hosting the Derby City Distillers. The Titans are currently tops in the Basketball Super League Standings.

Earth Day cleanups

Earth Day is on Monday, but ahead of that, there are many neighbourhood cleanups planned.

The one I will highlight is Earth Day Clean Up in the 'Burg! On Saturday from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. The CBC K-W team will be on hand for this event, which will take place at the Max Becker Common in the Kitchener neighbourhood of Williamsburg. So stop by and say hi to us, get to know people in this community and, of course, pick up some litter to mark Earth Day.

Eid Celebration

Saturday 3 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Waterloo Public Library, John M. Harper Branch

There will be crafts, games, activities and treats at this drop-in event to mark the end of Ramadan.

This event is being held in partnership with the Coalition of Muslim Women.

Ragnarok 4.0 Gaming Convention

Saturday and Sunday

TheMuseum, downtown Kitchener

This table-top gaming convention will feature all kinds of different games, including games, and vendors.

The philosophy behind the event is: "Gaming with a few friends is fun. Gaming with lots of friends is better." The goal of the event, organizers say, is to have a welcoming and open play space where everyone can have fun.

Free To Read Book Sale

Saturday 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Old Quebec Street Shoppes, Guelph

The Guelph Tool Library is hosting this event where no book is over $1. The sale is to mark World Book Day and there are more than 5,000 books available.

Earth Day event

Saturday 12 p.m. to 1 p.m.

Outside Guelph city hall

The Guelph Climate Action Network is hosting an event that combines arts and activism.

There will be a kids table and a community table with ideas on how people can take personal action to help the environment and offer reading suggestions.

There will also be a "personal pledge frame" for people to write down their own actions and commit to them.
