Kate Middleton Paired Her Fresh Bangs With a Cool New Dress

For a few months there, the Duchess of Cambridge was unintentionally depriving the world. Following a few months of maternity leave, she made only a scant few appearances before spending the summer away from the spotlight. But with September already halfway through, the royal’s back making official appearances on behalf of the British crown and satiating sartorial cravings.

On Thursday, the Duchess took a tour of the Anna Freud Centre, a children’s mental health center in London. For the philanthropic outing, she wore a black and white houndstooth Ralph Lauren silk “Austin” dress, which can — and definitely will be — purchased for $1,595. While not a coat dress, her signature silhouette, it’s still classic Kate in its business with a twist way. She nipped her waist with a skinny black belt and stood tall in Stuart Weitzman “Power” pumps. She finished the ensemble off with a pair of pearl drop earrings and a suede Mulberry clutch.

A Kensington Palace spokesperson noted the choice “reflects her interest in child mental health issues and the importance of early intervention and working with the whole family to provide children with in-school mental health services.”

Earlier in the week, the mother of two — Prince George, 2, and Princess Charlotte, 4 months — was spotted sporting bangs, a new ‘do for the famous head of hair. The 33-year-old was pictured in the front seat of a car being driven by her husband, Prince William, on the way to Queen Elizabeth’s Balmoral estate for Sunday church services. She previously had a fringe in 2012, which she similarly styled long and parted in the center.
