Kate Gosselin Confirms New Season of Kate Plus 8 Set to Premiere in January

It's official: Kate Plus 8 is returning to the small screen.

Kate Gosselin confirmed the news via Instagram in response to a comment from a fan on a photo Kate posted of her son Aaden with their dog last week.

"Wish you guys were still on television," wrote the fan, to which Kate, 41, responded: "We are! Full season of Kate Plus 8 returning in January! #Yay."

The hit TLC show chronicles Kate's life with her 15-year-old twins Mady and Cara and her 12-year-old sextuplets Aaden, Alexis, Collin, Hannah, Leah and Joel.

The series was previously known as Jon & Kate Plus 8, but was renamed in 2010 following Kate and Jon Gosselin's divorce.

Season 4 of Kate Plus 8 premiered in December 2015 and concluded in January.

Kate recently opened up to PEOPLE in an exclusive cover interview about how reality TV fame has changed their lives – and how the family is working together to overcome challenges, including the decision to enroll Collin, who has "special needs," in a program away from home that can help him reach his full potential.

"[There's] a fairly fluid diagnosis of what [Collin's] needs are, but he needs to learn certain strategies to help him deal with things," Kate told PEOPLE. "This has been a struggle we've had for a very long time, and it's one I've dealt with on my own. I've felt very alone in this. By the same token, it's not something that has only impacted me or him – our entire family has been impacted."

"We miss him so much, so it's been hard because there is a huge hole in our family without him here," she continued. "But it comforts us to know he's where he needs to be right now, and I can feel good about that."

A premiere date for Kate Plus 8 season 5 has not yet been announced by TLC.
