Kate Garraway has suggested that Strictly Come Dancing star Giovanni Pernice will be "deeply missed" amid rumours of his exit.

Reports emerged yesterday (May 16) that the dancer would be departing the BBC show, with the star not included in an internal memo listing the 2024 professionals.

Speaking on this morning's (May 17) Good Morning Britain, Kate – who appeared herself on Strictly in 2007 – shared her praise for Giovanni.

"If it is true, he will be deeply, deeply missed, because he was great on the show and people love him," she said.

Kate also noted that her Strictly partner Anton Du Beke and Giovanni have "done loads of stuff together" in terms of TV collaborations.

Following the exit reports, the BBC responded to the claims, a spokesperson telling Digital Spy: "The Professional Dancers for Strictly Come Dancing 2024 will be announced in due course."

The most recent season of the show saw Giovanni paired with Amanda Abbington, though she quit the series for "personal reasons". She has since opened up about difficulty during her time on the show.

The dancer hasn't spoken about their partnership publicly, though did say after she departed: "Amanda... I am so sad we can’t continue but I am proud of what we achieved and I am sending you so much love."

Giovanni recently revealed that he is planning to take a break after his tour next year, saying on Instagram: "I have had a wonderful time this year on my solo tour and already looking forward to even bigger and better next year!

"After performing in front of over half a million people for seven years in row, I plan to take a little break after next year's tour."

Strictly Come Dancing will return later this year on BBC One, while spin-off Strictly: It Takes Two airs on weeknights on BBC Two. Both shows are available to stream on BBC iPlayer.

Tickets for Strictly Come Dancing: The Professionals live tour are available now.
