The war between vampires and werewolves knows no end. And neither, of course, do profitable movie franchises starring beautiful women skilled at using elaborate firearms to destroy monsters. Thus, this January, before genre fans get their annual dose of zombie-killing mayhem courtesy of Milla Jovovich and Resident Evil: The Final Chapter, they’ll get to sink their teeth into the latest round of bloodsucker-lycan warfare courtesy of Kate Beckinsale and Underworld: Blood Wars, which has now delivered its debut trailer (watch it above).

The preview begins with clips from the series’ prior installments — a fact that might be undetectable to newbies, given that, from its grim blue-and-black color palette to its slow motion-drenched CGI combat, this latest sequel looks more or less identical to its four predecessors. As before, Beckinsale will star as black spandex-suited, werewolf-killing vampire Selena, who’ll team up with a bland partner (in this case, Theo James, returning from 2012’s Underworld: Awakening) against a new, supposedly more formidable horde of hairy adversaries led this time around by Tobias Menzies’ angry would-be conqueror.

Beckinsale still strikes a formidable horror-heroine pose, and though it doesn’t appear to break any new ground, Underworld: Blood Wars looks primed to satisfy its fans. Directed by first-time helmer Anna Foerster, and co-starring Trent Garrett, Lara Pulver, Clementine Nicholson, Bradley James, and Charles Dance, the film debuts on Jan. 6, 2017.
