Kansas towns get money for fixer-uppers and teardowns
WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) — Five Kansas towns are getting the money they need to fix up some old buildings and tear down blighted ones.
The towns will share more than $1.4 million from the Kansas Department of Commerce Community Development Block Grant program:
Anthony: $300,000 to rehabilitate 10 homes and demolish two
Caney: $300,000 to rehabilitate seven homes and demolish three
Harper: $300,000 to rehabilitate nine homes and demolish four
Peabody: $300,000 to rehabilitate seven homes and demolish two
Russell: $250,000 to renovate a property at 621 N. Main St. to house a commercial operation currently renting space in another building
The federal CDBG money goes to projects that help low- to moderate-income neighborhoods prosper.
