Chris Klieman didn’t have to look far to land Kansas State’s newest incoming football transfer.

Marques Sigle, a 5-foot-11 sophomore defensive back from North Dakota State, announced his intentions to transfer and continue his college career with the Wildcats on Sunday.

Sigle comes to K-State after recording 29 tackles and grabbing three interceptions during the past two seasons with the Bison.

Before Klieman was hired to replace Bill Snyder as K-State’s head football coach four seasons ago, he led North Dakota State to several FCS championships and still has a strong presence in Fargo.

That connection is obviously what helped bring Sigle and Klieman together at K-State.

The Wildcats will hope that Sigle turns out to be just as good as the last North Dakota State transfer who decided to join their roster. Josh Hayes piled up 66 tackles while playing safety for K-State this season after starting his career with the Bison.

Sigle spent most of his time playing cornerback at North Dakota State, but he projects to play safety at K-State.

He is the second known incoming transfer to commit to the Wildcats for this recruiting cycle, joining Iowa wide receiver Keagan Johnson.
