As the team sat in their seats between innings, a special message played on the stadium video board telling defensive end Mazin Aql, offensive lineman Beau Lawrence, punter Cole Moos and running back Reese Randall that they had scholarships.
Watch their reactions and try not to feel all warm and fuzzy.

A KU spokesperson said the program got the players to sit together by telling the four they would be involved in an in-game contest on the video board. The players were fearing they would have to be in a karaoke challenge.
The Royals lost the game 10-1, but the four players probably don’t care about the final score or that they witnessed a blowout. Both Aql and Lawrence are from the Kansas City area too and given the baseball fever that’s surrounded the city over the last five years, they’re probably pretty big Royals fans.
Kudos to Kansas for finding a pretty ingenious way to give the four players scholarships. And to let them celebrate with 35,000+ other people in the building.
