Kansas Masons, hospitals host free cancer screening event

WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) — The Kansas Masons, Masonic Cancer Alliance, Ascension Via Christi Village and the University of Kansas Cancer Center teamed up Saturday to host a free cancer screening event.

The event was held at Georgetown Independent and was open to the public. Insurance and appointments were not required.

One Kansas Mason said these free health events are how they give back to the community.

“They’re just going to give them a report this is what we found,” Jim Miller said. “Take it to your doctor or whoever you want to take it to and that’s the way we help in the community, and that’s what we try to do.”

Next year, they plan to start a mobile clinic where they can set up in legion parking lots to be more accessible to community members.
