MSHP Sgt. Andy Bell said Kansas City officers were dispatched after the petitioner of protection order had concerns about the respondent and wanted officers to contact that person.

Bell said as two officers arrived, they saw the respondent, a woman, walking down the road. They attempted to make contact with the woman, but Bell said she didn’t comply with officers.

MSHP said the woman had a handgun and presented it to police, and an officer shot the woman.
