Kangaroo dies in eastern Oklahoma after being struck by passing vehicle, authorities say

A kangaroo jumped in front of a car in Sequoyah County Wednesday morning and died, the county's sheriff's office said.

Near Liberty area north of Roland, a deputy responded to a kangaroo that was struck by a passing vehicle.

Sheriff Larry Lane told The Oklahoman is was a family's pet, and they later claimed the animal's body.

Lane said the Sequoyah County Sheriff's Office has dealt with other animals outside of the typical household pet, like emus, but never an exotic animal.
