Harry Kane has returned to Bayern Munich team training from an ankle injury amid hopes that he can feature in Saturday's big Bundesliga match against Borussia Dortmund.

Bayern said on Wednesday that Kane was present for parts of the day's session. He sustained the injury in Bayern's 5-2 win against Darmstadt on March 16, and then left the England camp in the international break, unable to play against Brazil and Belgium.

Kane scored a hat-trick in Munich's 4-0 win in the reverse fixture in Dortmund in autumn and is the Bundesliga top scorer with 31 goals.

Saturday's duel between Bayern and Dortmund is for once not a table topper but neither side can afford to lose.

Bayern in second want to keep their small title hopes alive and can't afford to slip further behind unbeaten leaders Bayer Leverkusen who are 10 points ahead of them with eight games left.

Dortmund in fourth occupy the last Champions League slot but have RB Leipzig breathing down their neck one point back.

It remained unclear whether goalkeeper Manuel Neuer, who turned 38 on Wednesday, and midfielder Aleksandar would be fit to face Dortmund.

Both had individual sessions on Wednesday after missing Germany's victories against France and the Netherlands.

Neuer, who was set to play for Germany for the first time since the 2022 World Cup, suffered an adductor strain at the team camp, and Pavlovic was unable to be with the team in a first call-up owing to tonsillitis.
