Kal Penn spoofs Kellyanne Conway’s couch photo on ‘Designated Survivor’ set
Is it too soon to call Conwaying the new Tebowing? Kal Penn joins a new meme movement spoofing Kellyanne Conway’s Oval Office couch photo from the set of ABC’s Designated Survivor.
“Kal-E-Anne,” the actor tweeted alongside a photo of him recreating the image.
Conway was the subject of backlash stemming from Donald Trump’s meeting with dozens of leaders of historically black colleges on Monday. A photo from the moment showed the president’s aide sitting on the white Oval Office couch with her legs up on the cushions, which some deemed a lack of respect for the White House visitors and the furniture.

Among those posting recreations of the image was comedienne Jen Kirkman, while other celebrities — like Vanessa Carlton, Alyssa Milano, and filmmaker Ava DuVernay — reacted to the image on social media.
“So much going on here…I just can’t,” the director of A Wrinkle in Time wrote.
CMON! DO BETTER, @KellyannePolls! https://t.co/Ty4GSoowCV

Ok so Kellyanne Conway doesn't wear shoes when in the Oval Office. 🤔 https://t.co/MRJk6Wx8Sa

Elsewhere, Conway’s meme has grown to include Photoshops, thanks in part to a thread on Reddit.

Conway told Lou Dobbs Tonight that she “meant no disrespect,” while other Twitter users came to her defense by posting images of Barack Obama propping up his feet on the oval office desk during his term.
