Kaitlyn Bristowe Announces That She's Freezing Her Eggs

Just because Kaitlyn Bristow was The Bachelorette and is now in a relationship doesn't mean she wants to have babies, like, now. So the reality star took to Twitter to announce that she's freezing her eggs.

And when someone asked why she was doing so, she had the best response:

On Friday, March 17, her fiancé, Shawn Booth, posted a photo of the two of them on Instagram celebrating her decision.

"Always impressed by her strength & courage, but even more so after these past few weeks!" he wrote in the caption of the post. "Very proud of her for taking control of our future and continuing to empower others! #ovaeggfreezing (and it doesn't hurt when you have the best nurse & friend out there @whitb624!!)"

Say what you will about The Bachelor and Bachelorette series and whether or not its former stars belong in the limelight after the season ends, but you can't argue with the fact that the ex-stars are in the limelight and do have people watching them. So it's cool to hear them speak out about things that are important (like the options women have when it comes to having kids!), as opposed to just posting ads for Flat Belly tea or whatever social media stars are hawking these days.

Of course, it's always important to point out that freezing your eggs comes with a very steep price tag: around $10,000 according to USC Fertility, which is definitely not chump change to most people. But any message about a woman "taking control of [her] future" is important to hear, especially when the conversation is about fertility and having choices about reproduction.
