Kaiser Permanente submits plans to build hospital at the Sacramento Railyards
(FOX40.COM) — Records filed with the city of Sacramento show a proposed project regarding a Kaiser Permanente medical center in the neighborhood known as the Railyards, an area directly north of downtown.
Documents were submitted to Sacramento’s planning department on March 1. Kaiser is seeking approval to build an eight-story, 657,500-square-foot hospital with 312 beds.
The healthcare company also proposes to build a 171,500-square-foot medical office that is five stories tall, along with a two-story central utility plant, and a seven-level parking garage and surface parking lot.
The hospital and medical center are proposed to be built on 17.41 acres on 105 Bercut Drive near Railyards Boulevard.

The next step for the proposed project will be a process that includes reviews and approvals.
“Kaiser Permanente is fully committed to building a state-of-the-art medical center at the Railyards in Sacramento to expand access to care in our community,” Kaiser said in a statement sent to FOX40.com.
The proposal of a Kaiser medical facility at the Railyards was first introduced in 2015 along with the new Sacramento County courthouse, a proposed Republic FC stadium, retail shops and restaurants.
An 18-story, 53-courtroom courthouse is currently under construction near the Railyards at the intersection of H and 6th streets and is expected to be completed in October 2024, according to the Superior Court of California.
In April 2022, Republic FC CEO Kevin Nagle introduced plans to build a stadium in the Railyards, but it has not yet broken ground.

The AJ Apartment Community, the first housing complex in the Railyards District, opened in the summer of 2023.
The complex has community rooms, a pool, a fitness center, barbeque and outdoor dining areas, and pet washing stations.
