Kadyrov appears lethargic following pancreatic necrosis reports — video

The press service of Ramzan Kadyrov, the Kremlin puppet in Chechnya, released a video of him on Telegram on April 22 following reports of his diagnosis of pancreatic necrosis.

Kadyrov appears nearly motionless in the footage, staring at one point, the Russian telegram channel Agency reported.

The video surfaced on his channel after five days of silence, following the previous video published on April 17. The press service stated his involvement in a meeting regarding Russia's war against Ukraine. The video lasts over 4 minutes, with close-ups of Kadyrov for about 40 seconds, without lingering much on his face.

"Throughout the close-ups of Kadyrov, he remains seated in one position at the head of the table, speaking slowly, and often gazing into the air rather than at his interlocutors," the Agency said.

Novaya Gazeta Europe, citing sources, earlier reported that Kadyrov has been suffering from pancreatic necrosis for over five years, with a mortality rate of up to 80%.

Kadyrov was admitted to a Moscow hospital's intensive care unit in September 2023 due to acute respiratory failure resulting from an overdose of the tranquilizer Dormicum, Novaya Gazeta said. Doctors induced a medicated coma and connected him to a ventilator.

Kadyrov's absence in Chechnya was officially linked to his visit to his hospitalized uncle, accompanied by a corresponding video release.

However, within two weeks, the sluggish and silent Kadyrov, along with the same uncle, who appeared to be "simply indecently healthy," was seen inaugurating a mosque in Grozny.

Following this, a PR campaign began in Russia aimed at projecting Kadyrov's well-being, the journalists said.

He was allegedly engaged in a series of meetings under contrived pretexts, including encounters with Russian dictator Vladimir Putin. However, journalists uncovered that Kadyrov conducted his "work meetings" in Moscow from the office of the intensive care unit's chief physician.
