Juvenile girl accused of fighting with Florence officers during arrest, kicking police window

FLORENCE, S.C. (WBTW) — A juvenile girl is facing charges after allegedly becoming combative with Florence officers and kicking the windows of a police vehicle, authorities said Friday.

The girl was charged with burglary, resisting arrest and threatening a public official. She was taken to the Department of Juvenile Justice and awaits a hearing.

Florence police responded to a home on Cheraw Drive at about 8 a.m. Friday. When they arrived, they noticed an open door and were called by the homeowner who was not there.

The homeowner told them he thought someone was in the house who shouldn’t be, according to police. After giving permission to search the home, officers found the girl inside.

When officers tried to detain her, she allegedly became combative and tried fighting with them, according to police. Other officers came to try and assist, when she continued to resist and tried damaging a police vehicle by kicking the window of it once she was inside.
