Justin Timberlake is officially the Super Bowl LII halftime show

You would never have guessed shortly after Feb. 1, 2004 that Justin Timberlake would ever headline another Super Bowl halftime show.

That date might not ring a bell, but this will: Timberlake helped create a massive controversy when he exposed Janet Jackson’s breast as part of an infamous “wardrobe malfunction” at the Super Bowl XXXVIII halftime show. The NFL has apparently forgiven him, or puts all the blame on Jackson, because Timberlake will headline this season’s halftime show.

It became official that Timberlake will be the Super Bowl LII halftime show on Sunday night.

Timberlake has been a star since the mid-1990s when he was a member of the boy band NSYNC. He went on to have a huge solo career, branched out into movies (and became a great semi-regular on “Saturday Night Live”), then resumed his music career with more hit songs. His star power is undeniable, and he’ll be a big draw for the Super Bowl halftime show. The NFL couldn’t have gotten a much bigger name for the role this season.

The NFL only hopes that this time his turn as the halftime performer goes better than the last time.
