Jury finds Julio Segura guilty of first-degree murder in death of Vancouver officer
PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — The verdict is in for the man facing charges in the 2022 death of Vancouver police officer Donald Sahota.
After only a day of deliberation, a Clark County jury found Julio Segura guilty of first-degree murder.
He was also found guilty of second-degree murder, robbery, possession of a stolen vehicle and eluding police.

The original incident happened in January 2022, when Sahota, an off-duty Vancouver police officer, was at his home near Battle Ground when Segura arrived at his house.
Sahota’s wife then called 911 as Sahota confronted Segura while holding a gun. The two fought and Sahota was stabbed.
Minutes later, Clark County Deputy Jonathan Feller arrived on the scene, mistook Sahota for Segura, then shot and killed him.
Segura was arrested and charged with three counts of first-degree murder, among other charges.
During the trial, the prosecution said Segura caused Sahota’s death through the events at the home.
However, the judge dropped two of the three charges of first-degree murder on Thursday, stating the evidence did not support the charges.
Segura will be sentenced on June 27.
On Thursday evening, Vancouver Police Chief Jeff Mori released the following statement responding to Segura’s verdict:
“On behalf of the Vancouver Police Department I want to say that today the justice process was exercised, as the jury found the defendant guilty of the January 29, 2022, death of Vancouver Police Officer Donald Sahota. It has been a long, emotional wait for the family and friends of Donald Sahota and while we are grateful for this verdict, the pain and tragedy of Don’s death remains. Don was a beloved husband, father, son, brother, and friend who will always be missed and never forgotten”.
