Jury finds in favor of LogMeIn in patent case
LogMeIn prevails in patent dispute brought by 01 COmmunique
WOBURN, Mass. (AP) -- LogMeIn Inc., which operates a service that lets people remotely access their computers, said Tuesday that a federal jury decided in its favor in a patent-infringement case brought by 01 Communique.
The company said that the jury in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia found that LogMeIn products do not infringe on a patent held by 01 Communique, as the company alleged in its lawsuit.
01 Communique filed the complaint against LogMeIn in 2010, according to court documents. A representative for the company was not immediately available to comment.
LogMeIN CEO Michael Simon said the company is pleased with the court's decision and will continue to vigorously defend patent lawsuits.
Shares of LogMeIn, based in Woburn, Mass., soared $3.48, or 19.6 percent at the end of regular trading to close at $21.26. They fell 79 cents, or 3.7 percent, to $20.47 in after-hours trading.
