Jury convicts Newton man of rape of a child

NEWTON, Kan. (KSNW) – A Harvey County jury has convicted a man accused of sexually abusing a child.

The Harvey County Attorney’s Office says on Thursday, a jury found 28-year-old Hunter Miller of rape and aggravated criminal sodomy of a child who was under 14 years old after a two-day trial.

The conviction carries a mandatory penalty of 25 years to life in prison. Sentencing is scheduled for June 11.

While this guilty verdict does not undo the harm suffered by the victim, in this case, it does hold Hunter Miller accountable for his actions. The County Attorney’s Office is grateful to the citizens of Harvey County who served their community by dedicating their week to serving as members of this jury panel.
