Jury asked for millions to comic for Vegas injury

LAS VEGAS (AP) — A Nevada jury is being asked to award more than $7.1 million in lost earnings to comedian George Wallace for a leg injury he says he suffered while performing in December 2007 at a resort on the Las Vegas Strip.

Wallace's attorney, Dominic Gentile, left open the amount the jury could award for pain and suffering. He earlier said he expected to seek at least $9 million.

Jurors began deliberating Friday after Bellagio attorney Paul Haire said Wallace had a pre-existing injury and was careless onstage.

Haire says the hotel shouldn't be found negligent for Wallace failing to look out for himself.

The jury heard two weeks of testimony about the night the 61-year-old stand-up comic became entangled in wiring during a show for a corporate group at the Bellagio.
