STROUDSBURG, Pa. (AP) — A jury is weighing a homicide charge against a former United Methodist pastor accused of killing both of his wives.

Prosecutors say Arthur Schirmer hit his second wife, Betty, on the head with a crowbar in 2008, then staged a car crash to try to cover up the crime. The 64-year-old has pleaded not guilty.

Monroe County First Assistant District Attorney Michael Mancuso told the jury on Tuesday that Schirmer left behind plenty of clues that prove he killed his second wife. But Schirmer's attorney says his client had no motive to murder.

Schirmer also is awaiting trial in Lebanon County on charges he bludgeoned his first wife in 1999. He also denies that.
