July 4th festivities set for Logan

Jun. 21—The Logansport Parks & Recreation Department has organized its annual Fourth of July festivities and fireworks display for Sunday, July 4, at Riverside Park.

This year, there are a few changes to parking and traffic control for the event. Dentzel Drive will be closed to the general public, and all parking along Riverside Drive will be handicapped-parking only.

There will be traffic control officers at 10th and Race streets, as well as 10th Street and Riverside Drive, to check for handicapped placards.

Homeowners who only have access from Riverside Drive also will be screened and allowed to access their homes.

There will be a drop-off location at the checkpoints for individuals and families who do not wish to walk or use the shuttle service.

Free parking lots with shuttle services will be located at Fifth and North streets as well as Sixth and High streets. They will be identified with banners. Shuttles will run every 15 minutes from 4 to 11:30 p.m.

Shuttle service will be paused during the fireworks show.

The schedule of events is as follows:

Celebration starts at 2 p.m.; Water balloon fight (for all ages) at 4:30 p.m.; Softball game, featuring the Logan Lovelies vs. Logan Lumberjacks, from 5 to 6:30 p.m.; Tracy Boucher performance from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m.; Counter.Point performance from 8 to 10 p.m.; Singing of the national anthem at 10:05 p.m.; and fireworks show at 10:15 p.m.
