Julio Jones: Outside Receivers Rankings
Sports Illustrated writer, Chris Burke, recently ranked the Top 20 outside receivers in the NFL. July tends to represent a somewhat boring time during the offseason and to pass the time writers and analysts invent lists, rankings, and hypothetical scenarios for discussion. However, one of Burke’s decisions may surprise many Atlanta Falcons fans.
Falcons wide receiver Julio Jones was placed at number four on this list. Jones is generally regarded as one of the top two receivers in the NFL, alongside Antonio Brown, and his unique skill set makes it hard to argue. The three ranked higher than Jones? That would be Antonio Brown, Odell Beckham Jr., and Dez Bryant.

Julio Jones made big strides last year amassing over 1800 receiving yards during what was an “off year” for quarterback Matt Ryan. The scariest thing is nobody knows yet the height of Jones’s ceiling. He was truly healthy this past season and showed just how dangerous of a weapon he can be in the offense. Assuming he stays healthy and can continue to master offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan’s system and playbook, the sky is the limit.

Simply put, Julio Jones is not getting the recognition he deserves. A humble superstar, Jones is one of the most physically gifted athletes in the NFL today and will continue to make strides to improve his game. Putting him at number four after a spectacular, record breaking season is a bit puzzling. As the Falcons continue to improve and receive more national media attention, this is one guy that will finally receive the credit he deserves.
