Julia Louis-Dreyfus wins Emmy for best actress

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Julia Louis-Dreyfus wins the Emmy Award for best actress in a comedy.

The former "Seinfeld" cast member won for her role as a caustic U.S. vice president in the HBO comedy "Veep," a new series this year. It is her third Emmy.

Other nominees were seven-time Emmy winner Tina Fey of NBC's "30 Rock," last year's winner Melissa McCarthy of CBS' Mike and Molly," Amy Poehler of NBC's "Parks and Recreation," Zooey Deschanel of Fox's "New Girl," Lena Dunham of HBO's "Girls" and Edie Falco of Showtime's "Nurse Jackie."

The 64th Primetime Emmys are airing live from the Nokia Theatre L.A., with Jimmy Kimmel as host.
