Judge denies bond reduction for cold case murder suspect

DOTHAN, Ala. (WDHN) — Houston County Judge Benjamin Lewis has denied lowering the bond for a cold case murder suspect in Dothan.

Dwight Mills is charged with one count of murder and abuse of a corpse in the 2001 murder of his wife Sharon Mills who went missing from Dothan.

She was found by an inmate cleanup crew in Bonifay, Florida about a month after her disappearance.

Mills is currently being held in the Houston County Jail on a bond of $1.5 million and last week asked Judge Lewis for a reasonable bond to be set in his case, but was denied that request.

The bond can be reconsidered after the preliminary hearing.
