JuJu Smith-Schuster celebrates TD by chaining up exercise bike; Steelers later celebrate with win

In a season wracked by protest disputes, declining ratings, and fan rage, one unquestionable bright spot has been the story of JuJu Smith-Schuster’s bike. It’s a sad tale with a happy ending, and Smith-Schuster commemorated it on Sunday night with a brilliant touchdown celebration.

The speedy Pittsburgh Steelers receiver rides a bike all over town; he doesn’t have a car or even a driver’s license. So when his bike got stolen Tuesday, well, there was trouble. Fortunately, the bike was located inside of a day, and all was right with the Steelers’ world.

Which brings us to Sunday night. In an otherwise back-and-forth game, Smith-Schuster broke free for a 97-yard touchdown sprint, the longest pass play in Pittsburgh Steelers history:

The score put the Steelers up 20-12, and Pittsburgh’s defense held on late, keeping the Lions out of the end zone in a late goal-line stand, to win 20-15.

That was a brilliant play all on its own, but what came next made it even better:

Yes, Smith-Schuster is locking up the exercise bike, just to be sure. Brilliant. In a season defined by drama for the Steelers, this ridiculous bike story could be exactly what this team needs to loosen up and start playing up to its potential.
