Joy Carolyn Jackson pleads to another animal abuse-related violation

An Iowa Park woman with a history of animal abuse-related offenses has had her punishment adjusted for violating her community supervision agreement.

Joy Carolyn Jackson was arrested in October and charged with having animal cages in her possession, which was a violation of her probation for an earlier animal-cruelty plea agreement. She pleaded "true" to the newest allegation Jan.12.

Jackson's trouble with the law over animals goes back to 2018, when Wichita County deputies seized 18 animals from her home. About a year later, deputies seized another 32 animals living in unsanitary conditions, including a lemur and exotic birds.

Then in August 2020, officers called to the scene of a possible drunk driving incident found a small dog in a soiled bag in Jackson's sweltering vehicle. She pleaded guilty in that case and was sentenced to five years of community supervision.

Her latest plea involving cages extends her community supervision to 10 years.
