Josh Hall isn’t heading to NC State after all. Here are his big plans.

There’s a price you pay when recruiting talent, and N.C. State basketball coach Kevin Keatts is finding that out.

For the second straight season, Keatts’ highest ranked signee won’t be playing in Raleigh after all. Josh Hall, the 6-9 Durham native who played his senior season at Moravian Prep, posted on his Instagram account Thursday night that he is signing with an agent and will remain in the NBA Draft.

Earlier this month Hall, 19, announced that he would test the NBA draft process in an attempt to get teams’ feedback on his status. But now that he is hiring an agent, Hall gives up his four years of college eligibility.

“As I strive to constantly improve myself day by day to reach my dreams of professional basketball, I understand this is a journey some can only dream about,” Hall wrote on his social media post. “That dream is a lot closer than I imagined at 19 years old. With that being said, I have decided to enter the NBA draft and sign with an agent.”

Jalen Lecque went the same route a year ago and went undrafted. He signed a four-year deal with the Phoenix Suns and spent most of the season with the organization’s G-League team.

Hall signed his letter of intent with the Wolfpack on Nov. 19, and was the headliner of a five-man class that was ranked in the top five in the ACC. But since scoring 51 points in a game in December, being able to make the jump to the pros became a reality for Hall, who was the No. 2 player in North Carolina and the No. 5 small forward in the country.

Last season, Hall played at Moravian Prep in Hickory and quickly shot up to one of the top players in the nation, averaging 24 points per game, leading the Lions to a 34-3 record.

Hall is the second local player this year to make the jump straight to professional basketball right out of high school. Word of God forward Isaiah Todd, the No. 1 player in the state, announced he would be heading to the G-League after originally committing to Michigan.
