Joplin man accused of assaulting estranged wife

Apr. 29—The Jasper County prosecutor's office has filed felony domestic assault and child endangerment charges on a 24-year-old Joplin man.

Cesar E. Guzman-Guerra was arrested Sunday in connection with an alleged incident April 19 at his home on South Ohio Avenue.

Police Capt. William Davis said Guzman-Guerra's estranged wife reported this past weekend that he had chased her around his home with a bat, choked her and threw a glass jar that almost struck their child. She further alleged that two days later, he sent sexual images of her to her new boyfriend, Davis said.

The prosecutor's office charged him with second-degree domestic assault and first-degree child endangerment.
