On Tuesday the National Rifle Association began airing an ad in which the gun lobby calls President Obama an "elitist hypocrite" for providing each of his daughters a Secret Service detail but also favoring stricter gun control measures. Last night on The Daily Show, Jon Stewart guessed that the ad, were it not clearly labeled with the N.R.A.'s insignia, could be mistaken for an "elaborate, avante-guard, Joaquin-Phoenix-style joke ... or a false-flag operation run by Michael Moore in an attempt to discredit responsible gun owners."
