You might not want to ask Jon Gosselin about custody of his kids on social media. It’s still a sore subject for the former star of Jon & Kate Plus 8.

Gosselin made that clear Thursday in the comments section of a photo he shared that showed him and one of the six sextuplets, Hannah, out for a birthday treat on the day she turned 14.

Bday dinner with Hannah. Happy Birthday!!!

While there were comments galore about how the teen is growing into a beautiful young lady, Gosselin responded to the few questions about whether he now has custody of Hannah.

“If u hadn’t noticed this a bday post and not custody inquiry post but thanks for showing some support,” he wrote.

Notably, he posted a throwback of all the sextuplets together.

As Gosselin followers know, he’s been fighting about custody of the kids with his ex, Kate Gosselin, for years. The couple split in 2009 after 10 years of marriage and eight children. Besides the sextuplets, they have 17-year-old twin daughters, Mady and Cara.

In the years following their breakup, Jon and Kate have fought over their children in court … and other places.

Police were called to an orthodontist’s office near the family’s base in Wyomissing, Pa., on Aug. 22, 2017, reportedly for a “verbal domestic dispute over child custody involving one minor (Female/13 years old).” Jon, who at the time shared physical custody of their children while Kate maintained full legal custody, had taken one of their daughters to an appointment. Both had come to pick to her up. Reportedly, they argued about which parent would leave with her, but the girl eventually opted to leave with her father. No arrests were made.

While police did not name the child involved in the incident, Jon appears to have a particularly close relationship with Hannah.

In fact, he sought full custody of her in May 2015, according to E!. “Jon is filing for custody because Hannah has expressed she is unhappy and uncomfortable in the house with Kate [Gosselin],” a source told the network.

By June 2016, Jon himself explained to Yahoo Entertainment his schedule with the kids: He got a weekly dinner night with them and had them stay over every other weekend. He said that he only got four of the eight at a time, and had no control over who he would see.

“If the kids want to come, they come,” he said at the time. “I love them all, but I am going to focus on the ones that want to come. My hands are tied.”

Kate celebrated the same day with a photo of several of her birthday “babies.”

At least Jon and Kate only have a few years left before their kids turn 18.
